piratepapillon • 1 year ago • #107020716I have a question, not sure if anyone has ever tried this, but has anyone ever dyed an Azone doll? I'm considering trying to customize a doll to have a black skintone and I've seen some methods on doll collector sites, but am worried about preserving the eyes/face details. Anyone tried it or have advice?

I don't have much advice to give other than that, if you choose to dye a doll with a painted face, you will almost certainly have to re-faceup.

SilentCaay • 2 years ago • #85890519I do not have experience customizing dolls but I haven't heard of people cutting off hair for wigs on 1/6 dolls. Normally you buy a head with a blank face and the hair you want and do a "face up" or you can buy a hairless head and root it yourself. Some people hand paint their faces or you can buy decals.

ah thanks for the links! I know ppl buy blank heads but I have no painting skills and I quite like the expression and eyes on the doll I sent so I wanted to keep it, but just wasn’t sure if I could be able to reroot the hair or at the very least, I think maybe add a bit of color.. ( I would probably test that out on a diff doll ) I would like blank faces to practice stuff on, but it’s a shame to me there doesnt seem to be any w like painted eyes already.. I like the azone doll face style and was hoping id be able to just change the hair to better fit my chara :,0 maybe im being a bit picky aha

I guess if I find her for a good price and get practice heads I can figure out for myself what works, no harm done to any dolls if it was a blank head anyways LOL

I don’t have the money or skill to pay someone to face up or do it myself tho so gonna have to look into decals.. @ __ @ but regardless ty ! I’ll check the Facebook groups out, I didnt even think of searching there! and thanks for the blank head links too, will keep those in mind for when I wanna start practicing adding hair and stuff!

I know Azone dolls have hair like,.. rooted? in the head. someone told me I would be able to do that to a doll, but looking around I haven’t been able to find a lot of Azone specific info.. (i think the person who told me that meant in general or maybe a cheaper doll, but wanna make sure.)
the last thing I wanna do is drop over 100 on it and ruin it n__n (though i was also looking into buying other heads, but there doesn’t seem to be many expressions + want a specific eye color , trying to make my oc lol..
thanks if anyone can answer, idk where else to ask, a lot of Azone related stuff is years old and that den of angels site doesn’t allow them... wish there was some sort of Azone community ..T_T
(btw; the doll I’ve got my eye on is ITEM #212437 and if anyone by chance sees this and has her and would sell for like, not 200+ please pm... as said on my comment on her page don’t mind if some damage or missing stuff, just hoping to get her around original price or so TT)

I just want to find her :/ I've been following Mandarake and Suruga-ya as well. Basically just hoping the day someone parts with her.
