Update on Dec 10, 2013: SAL Registered will no longer be available as of 1st January 2014 to some countries.
Update Nov, 2016: Added physical store location in Akihabara and AmiAmi became a MFC Partner store.

They have a great selection, and their prices are as good as anywhere else for the most part, but their shipping is KILLING ME lately. I cannot shop there anymore. Just an insane level of extra packaging, they wanted to charge me for SAL parcel for 3 scultures, prize figures. Just regular small-mid size prize figure boxes.

Last time I got a package from them I literally had to dig through loads of paper just to find a single keychain and 2 Nendos, totally unnecessary.

They may have a few hundred yen less on the price tag of their figures, but their shipping more than makes up for it.

So I check out a Pre-Order item to my monthly order, but surprised to found that no Unregistered SAL option for shipping? Why?

Also, I hope AmiAmi would also offer unregistered Airmail... But to be fair, so far somehow I found only FromJapan offers that option.

How expensive is your order, are they big figures?

-Total length of all 3 sides: Up to 90 cm
-Parcel weight: Up to 2kg
-SAL service not available to all countries
-Unavailable for orders over 8,000 JPY

Parcel weight and price tend to be the main offenders. You might want to check that page out to pick a replacement for unregistered SAL.

This happens to me in a lot of places, and since registered SAL is not available for shipments to Australia, it causes a headache.

Tracking's only 410jpy (or should be!) so if it fits in SAL, so it could work out cheaper to track rather than split. And it's nice to see where your parcel is :P. Or at least I tend to pay for tracked these days, unless it's something small n' cheap that I'm not too bothered when it turns up.

Thank you for your suggestion! ^^ But for this case, actually I did plan to split them from the start, because the amount of purchase in that one order almost touched my country's limit/threshold for free customs (? sorry if it's confusing, I'm confused how to phrase it ><) for personal import, where if I passed that limit, I'd have to pay customs. And the difference of that limit and my total order is less than $1, TOO dangerous, so I'd just split them ^^;

I've got a question; I've preordered several sets of charms/rubber straps in the last couple months, and I only just noticed that a couple of them say "Assorted according to maker's rate from [# of items in the set] types", while others say "All [# of items in the set] types can be collected by purchasing 1 BOX". Does that mean some of them are completely random on which items in the set you get? I kind of hope not, else I'll be disappointed if I don't get the ones I'm hoping for.

Which straps are you ordering?

I've ordered A LOT of straps and goods from AmiAmi over the last year and each time I got a full set. But I know that sometimes, mainly with capsules, you get random ones. I normally find that if its something like theres 6 types but you get a set of 10 they're random but if it's they're 10 types and it's a set of 10 you will most likely get one of each.

It means the manufacturer hasn't stated if a full box is a full set or not. Re-Ments are labelled to say they're full sets, others the manufacturer will tell the redistributors/sellers a box is a full set.

Usually they're full sets, but if AmiAmi hasn't been told, then they can't state if they are or not. I've got something similar on order - really hoping it is a set rather than assorted ^^.

I've multiple multiple sets of the BnHA nitotan straps and pita straps (and split them), you have nothing to worry about ^^

In the box will be 1 of each character/variant. The only sets you need to wary of are capsules which are usually fairly cheap and come in large sets.

Thank you for assurance! I had a feeling I was being paranoid, but I figured it was best to ask just in case (not that I would've cancelled my preorders, all that would have changed is the possibility of me having to do some hunting/trading for the ones I want if they weren't in the box).

According to AmiAmi's FAQ:

A. Tentative Pre-order items are items whose availability is still uncertain.
These items are generally produced in limited quantities and as such require additional confirmation with regards to availability. These items can be ordered like a regular pre-order item and customers will be informed as soon as possible if we are able to procure stock for them.
Please keep in mind that it might not be possible to procure Tentative Pre-order items depending on the stock level on the maker’s side.

I've read that as well. But as I preordered, it wasn't a 'Tentative Pre-order' and I thought I would get it definitely. :(

Hi wondering if anyone knows, I got a new computer and just realised as I went to log into Ami that I don't actually remember my password old computer used to save it and when I click on forgotten password it asked for the security question but it has never been set

Anyone know what I do now?
