when will sal/airmail come back

anyone know anything about why japan wont ship to uk, they are doing small pack surface only rn which is cheap but barely anyone supports it and it takes like 2 months to arrive at the earliest, wish sal small packet would come back it was so good

SAL is basically extra cargo space on everyday flights. If there's not enough flight volume there's no SAL.

Not soon enough, not seen any announcements so guessing it will still be a while before retailers are able to offer
SAL is still showing as unavailable to the UK on the Japan Post web site

I doubt SAL will be any time soon, but it's infuriating not to have air SP back. I was hoping for it to return when flights increased to Japan, but maybe it won't be back until Russia stops being mardy... Or some other more arbitrary metric is met...

Unfortunately unless someone has inside information we're not going to know. Just gotta hope one day my Japan Post news monitor pings and gives some good news.

This is just Japan being Japan about things, it's part Covid and part the war, Japan post lost a lot of money internationally because of Covid so they are trying to make some of that money up via stopping cheaper services, the war shouldn't really affect the shipping much as when the war started they still shipped to Ireland and Belarus which to get to both you had to fly over a war zone.(According to the flight paths)
I started to use Surface via sea as it's much cheaper it's worth saving the extra money and waiting another 2-3 months, as most of the time you have to wait 6-8 since a pre-order so another few months is nothing.

I think you mean Air Parcel as Surface Parcel is only 2500-3500 yen compare to Air Parcel which can be a minimum of 5000 yen.
Depending on what you are buying it may be better getting it from a proxy and paying the small service fee and saving on the shipping cost or if it's a figure Goodsmile do a 2000 yen flat shipping fee for all their figures.

when i buy from 1999 its about 1000 yen for small packet figures 2500 is expensive imo
