hi, everyone!
i have a bit of a personal ramble today. i'll be talking about vtubers and their relation to figures, but i also wanted to share my sadness regarding the graduation of nina kosaka from nijisanji's english vtuber branch, ethyria
for anyone unaware of vtubers or idol culture, "graduation" is a term used in the jp idol scene where an idol stops their activities for good and moves on towards something else. today, nina announced the end of her activities as a virtual youtuber
nina is a fox goddess of luck, now a beacon of light for humanity. that's her lore, at least. she's better known as nijisanji's unofficial mom due to her motherly and nurturing personality. she's a super fun extrovert that enjoys talking to others and involving herself in their activities via encouragement and enthusiasm. her fellow coworkers and friends constantly speak of her aid and support when they are in need
i've been a fan of nina for quite some time. she's my favorite both in her debut group of four and in all of nijisanji english. she's funny and loud, often marching to the beat of her own drum. unfortunately, imposter syndrome has caught up to her, and she announced that she's leaving on her own terms due to feeling that what she delivers content-wise is not up to par with the people around her. that truly breaks my heart, but i am happy she chose what makes her happiest. i'm hoping she will feel lots of fun and joy in whatever she chooses to do next!
now, as this is a figure database, i'll talk about that. some of the announcements i look forward to most at events are vtuber figures. i'm a big fan of all sorts of people, but i was especially overjoyed that nijisanji english figures have finally started being made. it started with the vox akuma nendoroid (ITEM #1585608) and these trading figures of their male vtuber group, luxiem (browse.v4.php?m...). and past being a vtuber fan, so many of them have incredible designs that i'd love to have merch of even if i don't know them or watch them
this is where nina comes in
her design is breathtaking. it hits all the points i absolutely love. there are many foxgirl lovers on here, so if this is your first time seeing her, i'd assume you love the design as well. unlucky for us, there will be no chance for us to ever get a figure of her now. she could return to the company in the future (i am coping) if she really wanted to, but that has only happened once in nijisanji's history
i'm quite devastated at the thought of losing one of my favorite streamers, but as a collector, i'm also disappointed i'll never have her beautiful design in my collection. sigh. such is life, i guess
thanks for reading this ramble if you did! i encourage you to check out her content before she's gone, if you'd like. some of my favorites include pokemon bdsp, overwatch 2 (featuring other nijisanji members), and ultimate chicken horse (with members of nijisanji and hololive)!

Glad for all the content she has produced, hopefully she can rotate back around into the VTuber space similar to Kson in the future.
Honest question - I never managed to get into VTubers and the very concept is off-putting to me, but, by any chance, is VTuber drama this generation's pro wrestling?
