I haven't purchased anything from here yet but I already like this place. Reasonable prices, nice range of illustration doujinshi (mega plus for me), rare items, good campaigns, pretty layout and customer service. I've received a few replies from them and they've all been very polite and detailed and overall the best I've received, frankly. I would post an example here but they're a bit lengthy.

The only con I can think of so far would be the lack of a keyword search bar so you have to search for things by clicking the categories and I suppose, the smaller range of things they have on offer.

Anyone care to share their experiences so far?

Also, they're having a campaign where new accounts made through invite get a $10 voucher so if you're interested just shoot me a PM or ask someone who has an account to send you an invite.

I placed an order with them in December last year when you linked that 'spend $100 get free shipping' promotion in the Australian GO club. I ordered 7th Dragon 2020 Miku which was a pretty good deal considering she'd probably cost more at other places like Amiami once you factor in the shipping.

I also threw in 3 doujin books into my order. Those have been shipped already and I gotta say I'm really impressed with the packaging! It came in this really nice sturdy box and all the books were individually wrapped in plastic and they also bundled in a free clear file and badge. All the contents were then wrapped in a larger piece of clear cellophane which was taped to the bottom of the box. Very secure.

When you sign up with TOM for the first time you get a free $5 voucher via email so I also used that in this order. I'm pretty satisfied but I'd probably use them again if I can spend enough (normally $200) to qualify for free shipping. I think they use only EMS since the package arrived in roughly 4 days and as you can see the box that they used for the doujin while nice is actually really big compared to what's inside which may bump up the price. I'd put lack of cheaper shipping options as a con too. I'm currently using the box to store some of my doujin collection, it's exactly two B5 doujinshi wide which is great! XD

They've got a really nice selection even though it's smaller than other shops. Figures, retail artbooks and doujin my favourite things + random stuff like plushies. I also must give special mention to the very enticing product photos for doujin and art books. I really like how they're photos of the actual product rather than stock images. Makes resistance even harder! :P

If there are any Aussies that are planning to order from TOM but can't reach the free shipping threshold I'd love to join in a group order. There are some doujin that I really want from there haha. I can also participate in that $10 voucher thing too, here's my referral link *link removed* (mod edit, not allowed). :)

I just signed up the other night (before I knew about the campaign, haha whoops) and so far I'm pleased. They have some nice, hard-to-get items and exclusive prints and doujinshi. Definitely worth a look if you like illustrated works! The site's layout is appealing, even though it's a bit of trouble to find specific items. I haven’t contacted them directly yet so I don’t have any experience with their customer service but they appear to be friendly.

Their shipping is a bit on the high side. It seems to start at $13 regardless of the item, just from messing with the cart a bit. I could be wrong, though. Two small Alpacasso plush cost $17 to ship total. With the $5 coupon I got for signing up it came out to just $12, and the plush were much cheaper than most places I've found to begin with, but still.

Yep, I got two of the Prince ones, Sky and Peach. They were the only ones available other than White. The Sky color was sold out when I first looked, but I refreshed about ten minutes after looking at the page and one had restocked so I snagged it. I was surprised to see it restock so fast! I'm not sure if they found one sitting around after all or it was just a fluke. I have no idea how often they restock but if you check back frequently enough you might be in luck.

Wish I'd known you could change the shipping method, but it still wasn't a whole lot after the discount so I'm not upset about it.

I was close to not ordering too but that free shipping and those product photos haha. I was preparing for our family's christmas party when you posted the promo I think. XD; I'm contemplating ordering some more doujin + possibly the Shinobu re-release figure. Those flat shipping boxes are really nice, they're perfect for storing doujinshi. I wonder what Miku's box will be like.

I really missed out on a good deal since they ship all of the items in your order for free in that campaign no matter the release month. I'm just going to assume that they pack everything in tip-top shape and super secure :P

I'm unsure if they're aware of the new postal regulations regarding registered SAL SP and Australia so in my reply I asked about that. I'll post about their reply here if you'd like.

Now that's what I call a pro-active customer service! Never had such nice emails from any customer service. ^^

It turns out that they do offer unregistered SAL SP so yay! You'll just need to write "Ship via SAL Small Packet UNREGISTERED" in the Note section of the cart page when you order.

I ended up getting Fuji Shiki from TOM and my goodness, even with a slightly higher markup, their ease of use definitely makes it worth it. It's really awesome that their CS is that nice and they offer Unreg SAL ;u;

I think I might buy more stuff from them in the future ehe.

Got my package today. The plush were well packed, with a nice amount of bubble wrap and paper for padding. They also threw in a free clear folder. Definitely buying from them again!

It was just a regular box, albeit a pretty sturdy one. Maybe if you got a ton of doujinshi at once they'd have a bigger box like yours was though, haha. They do seem like they'd be really useful for storing doujin, though!

Right I was kinda crossing my fingers hoping the figure I ordered would come in a similar box hahaha. Maybe those boxes are just specifically for shipping doujin. I would by lying if I said that box had no effect on my decision to purchase doujinshi from there again. LOL They are really good for storage. The current ones I use don't have enough room to make 2 side by side piles and it gets really annoying taking everything out when the book I want is right at the bottom. :P

I made an order of a bunch of doujinshi and artbooks from them a few weeks back. Unfortunately, my box came with two smashed corners. None of my books were damaged, but I contacted TOM about the issue and received the best customer service email I've ever gotten. First is my email with a picture, then their reply.

To whom it may concern,

I recently made a purchase of some doujinshi and a couple t-shirts from your Shop. I first off wanted to say I just found out about Tokyo Otaku Mode and am thoroughly pleased with the selection of official products available. I'm a long time collector of artbooks and doujinshi, and to see them listed at near their original Japanese prices has made me a happy collector. I'm sure you're well aware at how prices of doujinshi can be inflated due to their limited nature. It's nice to not have to go through a proxy service to get these. It also pleases me to see artwork from these wonderful artists being printed on various household items with the artist's approval. I never thought this would happen outside officially licensed goods.

Anyway, onto my problem. I received my order late last week and while everything came unharmed, the condition of the shipping box left a lot to be desired. I've imported enough stuff I understand there's always a risk of the products being damaged during shipping(thankfully this is not the case), however, this is the first box out of probably about 100 from Japan that has been damaged. It seemed like a fairly flimsy cardboard, so maybe a stronger box that is less likely to crush during shipping is the answer. It's not really a big deal as the products were not damaged, but I am concerned for future orders I plan to make. Here is a link to a picture of one of the crushed corners(there were two).

I sincerely hope this isn't a regular occurrence as I love what TOM has to offer.

I received the rest of my order(a custom printed shirt) a couple weeks later and it was in a much sturdier box with no damage. I don't think my one shipping mishap should be cause for concern with their site. Based on everything I know about the site and their CS email, I would say they put the customer first above all, and I'm all for that.

Just noticed TOM is having the spend $100 get free shipping again! :D

My second purchase with TOM and it went perfectly again! I got three kaomoji cups during the free shipping campaign and not only was it shipped EMS, it was absolutely packed with bubble wrap (woo).

I really love the fact this website has so many doujinshi works from many artists (Including some i watch on Pixiv) and some art books that I've been searching for ages online!
