Fate/Stay Night - Saber - 1/8 - Armor Version (Gift)Fate/Stay Night - Saber - 1/8 - Armor Version (Gift)Review

Wow. Way too often figures fail to live up to the pre-release shots. Saber Gift is not one of these figures.

Yes. She really is that good, plus some more.

Long story short. If you were stuck on a deserted island and there was only one figure you could teleport to where you were, no small number would choose to ask for Saber Gift.

Her outfit looks like a ceremonial battle dress that would be fit for a king or a queen and a super heroine. And it is hard not to get excited when you pull her out of the box and realize she feels and looks like a figure worth many many times more.

If you rotate her around your eyes and mouth will scream with desire and leave a puddle of water by your feet from tears of happiness and lustful drooling.

This figure comes with two heads. The alternate head aka anime style looks equally as impressive as the other and matches the body well.

The figures awesomeness is further complemented by Sabers powerful yet graceful pose. Standing on two feet, one hand rests on her unsheathed sword pointed to the ground/base and the other with its large armguard lies freely to her side.

In figure-making it is hard to make one that is dynamic and interesting yet won't end up looking like a contortionist or smelling its own feet after a couple of years. Gifts approach is straightforward.. come up with a simple pose that is balanced and stable but make it leap out at you.

This figure looks brilliant from the swirly design molded into her semi translucent corset to the beautiful gold embroidery lining her dress.

The paint work on Saber is well done and the mold has no excess plastic that my eyes can find. There is a bit of colour shading on the front of her dress which gives it an interesting effect when photographed and the silver has a bit of reflectiveness. I think Saber will look marvellous placed over a multicoloured light with the light passing through her semi translucent petticoat.

To finish off, Gift paired this figure with no ordinary black round base. The base is actually a mirror which you have to remove the protective plastic sheet covering it when you take it out of the box. Or leave it on if you like the 'dull aluminium' appearance. One thing that concerns me is that Saber's sword is kept from sliding out of her hand by the friction the tip has with the base. Move it around a lot and I fear the sword will scratch the mirror. On my MF Ignis I am especially worried about this and I only wipe her with a screen cleaning or eyewear cloth. Nothing else comes into contact with the base. This is why I'm keeping my Saber with the sheet on.

Max Factory fans have long enjoyed Kureha to my watery eyes bitterness but now Gift fans can counter with Armour Ver Saber. bahaha! >_>

Oh. Wow. I really need this figure. I really wanted it when it was half price, but I think I can wait a bit longer.
